Categories: Today Foundation News

We had an outstanding group of professionals on Sunday, January 7, 2018 participate in our career panel. What is the role of a nonprofit was answered by Martha Stowe, Executive Director of Vickery Meadow Youth Development Foundation; Anthony Ball, Missions Pastor at First Baptist Church Irving, talked about what qualifications are required to work in the ministry; Casey Boland, a long term teacher at Lake Highlands HS pointed out some of the changes in education in the last 20 years; Hannah Marsteller, TLF career member and new teacher at Lake Highlands HS, explained why she wanted to go back to school to become a teacher; Timmy Newsome, founder of Newtech Business Solutions, stressed the importance of research whether you are preparing for a football game or opening a new business; Jesse Reyes of the Dallas Police Department, highlighted the role police play in the community. Common threads between all the panelists included the fact that your career path will be crooked, that it is important to take advantage of all opportunities, and internships are incredibly important to help identify the professions which are right for you. Thank you panelists for the wisdom and time you shared with TLF.
