TEXAS ANTI-DRUG PROGRAM

In 2005, the Today Foundation launched the Texas Anti-Drug program to combat and eliminate the ‘cheese-heroin’ epidemic in Texas schools. Detected in 2005, a new drug ‘cheese-heroin’ was killing middle school students and children as young as 10. The Foundation immediately swung into action and formed a successful community-school-state-law enforcement drive to tackle the crisis. Among its efforts a powerful information and communications campaign helped schools eradicate the threat. Grants were awarded to more than 25 schools in recognition of their Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention programs.
