Dallas Call to Character

In 2001, the foundation, in partnership with the Dallas Independent School District, developed and implemented the ‘Character Counts’ program in all Dallas Independent School District schools. The ‘Call to Character’ program emphasizes the importance of character education in our schools, and communities. Students learn the six pillars of character: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship as core principles in decision-making and life.

    • Campus Programs:

Individual schools within DISD, such as Seagoville Elementary School and Lakewood Elementary School, incorporate the CHARACTER COUNTS! framework into their daily operations and programs to foster character development.

Students are educated on the core ethical values of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.

DISD participates in National Character Counts! Week, a special event to highlight the importance of good character, positive relationships, and respectful behavior.

    • Awards and Recognition: Schools may have their own award systems, such as the “Super Stallion Awards” at Lakewood Elementary, to recognize students who exemplify these character traits.
